Gresham Man Charged With Animal Neglect

(Gresham, OR)  --  A Gresham man is facing multiple charges, after being accused of neglecting dozens of birds kept in cages that had not been cleaned or maintained for a considerable length of time.  Police tell "The Oregonian" that 57-year-old Rick Dwight Richards allowed the roughly 245 birds to wallow in feces and food waste.  The Oregon Humane Society says the birds included finches, parakeets, songbirds, and exotic birds like African grey parrots.  Richards is scheduled to be arraigned next month.
