(Washington, DC)  --  Republican Congressman Greg Walden of Oregon will serve as the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee when the new Congress convenes in January.  "The Oregonian" reports the appointment will give Walden oversight over federal departments in charge of consumer protections, food and drug safety, public health, environmental quality, energy policy and others.  Walden will also play a major role in the debate over the Affordable Care Act, which President-elect Donald Trump and congressional Republicans say they want to repeal and replace.
