Gas Explosion On NW 23rd Avenue Ruled Accidental

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Fire investigators say a gas explosion that damaged a building on Northwest 23rd Avenue and injured eight people has been ruled an accident.  The blast happened on October 19th at a bagel shop, and officials say it was caused by an excavator that struck a steel gas line.  Firefighters and police officers were among those hurt in the explosion, but none of the injuries was life-threatening.
