Portland Recognized For Effort To End To Vet Homelessness

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland is being recognized by the White House for its work to put an end to veteran homelessness.  Mayor Charlie Hales announced Saturday that the City of Roses became the first West Coast City to accomplish the federal initiative led by First Lady.  Under Hales' leadership, nearly 13-hundred homeless veterans have been placed into permanent housing.   Portland and Multnomah County have committed millions of dollars to the issue and have created a by-name list of homeless vets in the community.
