(Salem, OR)  --  Many people in Portland are wondering why the Oregon Department of Transportation doesn't use salt on the roads when it snows.  ODOT says the reason it doesn't do this is because salt is expensive and could have a negative impact on the environment.  A spokesperson for ODOT says after this week's snow storm it may consider using salt in the future.
