(Portland, OR) -- Portland city officials say Northwest Raleigh Street was shut down yesterday west of Northwest 22nd Avenue because of a gas leak. Portland Water Bureau workers broke a gas line and caused the leak around 1:30 yesterday afternoon. Portland Fire and Rescue tells "The Oregonian" gas got into at least two apartment buildings, prompting evacuation there and at businesses within a one-block radius. The area was reopened by around 3:30 p.m.
