According to a 24/7 Wall Street survey, more than 16 percent of Oregon's population in 65 or older, with the state's life expectancy at 79-point-five years, good for 17th-highest. About 29 percent of seniors in Oregon have a bachelor's degree, which makes them more likely to earn a wage that pays well enough to comfortably live and eventually retire on. The state's over-65 poverty rate is seven-point-three percent, well below the national rate of nine percent.
