(Olympia, WA) -- The Washington State Department of Natural Resources is asking the Legislature for additional funding to pay for training and equipment for the 2017 wildfire season. DNR is asking for 13-million dollars to train two-thousand firefighters, and to repair and replace equipment to fight wildfires. Public Lands Commissioner Hilary Franz says if DNR's funding request isn't met, the department will struggle as the fire season gets underway.
