(Salem, OR) -- A Salem man believes he did the right thing by picking up a three-month-old black bear that seemed near death and bringing it to a wildlife center in Marion County. But the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says it was illegal for Corey Hancock to take wildlife out of its habitat, and he could be facing a citation and possibly a fine. The department has taken over care of the bear cub, and officials say the baby is recovering nicely. ODFW says it's up to them to determine whether Hancock is issued a citation for taking a wild animal out of the forest.
