Bill Prohibiting 'Lunch Shaming' Goes To Governor Brown

(Salem, OR)  --  A bill is on its way to Governor Brown's desk that would end 'lunch shaming' in Oregon's schools.  The Oregon State Senate approved HB 3453 Monday without opposition.  HB 3453 would prevent the practice of serving kids alternative meals or singling them out by giving them a wristband indicating they can't afford lunch, a practice known as 'lunch shaming.'  The bill also requires the USDA National School Lunch Program to provide lunch for kids regardless of their ability to pay.
