(Portland, OR) -- The iconic Paul Bunyan statue in the historic Kenton neighborhood is set to get some upgrades. KGW reports that a fundraising effort by the Kenton Neighborhood Association has pulled in nearly 55-thousand dollars to save the statue. Improvements include thoroughly washing the statue, repairing cracks and damage and repainting it. The restored statue will be unveiled September 9th at the Tall Paul Fest. The statue was built by the Kenton Business Association in 1959 and is the only Portland roadside attraction on the national historic registry.
