(Salem, OR)  --  Governor Kate Brown is calling a state of emergency due to critical fire danger.  Brown says the prolonged heat along with thunderstorms in the forecast are creating the potential for severe wildfire conditions.  The emergency declaration allows the state National Guard to help out with firefighting efforts.
