(Portland, OR)  --  Multnomah County is joining two dozen other states in suing big pharmaceutical companies.  The complaint, filed last week in Portland, states that opioids sold by the defendants can, quote, "kill you or commit you to a lifetime of addiction."  The 250-million-dollar lawsuit blames drug companies for a decades-long "campaign of lies and deceptions" that resulted in the overprescription of painkillers.  Opioids are routinely prescribed for chronic pain, which causes patients to form addictions to the pills.
