(Seattle, WA) -- A young resident orca whale is dead from apparent malnutrition. The Center for Whale Research says the two-year-old orca named Sonic was travelling with his mother and an adult male near British Columbia when it passed away. Sonic is the third of six whales born in his pod to die. The Center for Whale Research says shortages of Chinook salmon caused by man-made damming is placing significant strain on resident whales in the Pacific Northwest.
