(Washington, DC) -- Oregon's unusual jury system won't be tested this year by the U.S. Supreme Court. Justices declined yesterday to hear a case involving non-unanimous jury verdicts. Oregon and Louisiana are the only states that allow convictions on a 10-2 vote, which critics claim is unconstitutional. The high court had previously upheld the unconventional laws in 1972 and refused to hear cases challenging Oregon's law eight years ago.
