(Seaside, OR)  --  A mother and son are thankful to be alive after escaping their burning home.  Firefighters were called to the Seaside house yesterday afternoon on Avenue S.  The two-story structure was covered in flames when they arrived.  The homeowner says she tried to put the flames out herself but had to run when the fire grew.  The cause of it is still under investigation.
