(Portland, OR) -- Amtrak officials are asking passengers to practice patience amid expected delays due to yesterday's deadly train derailment in Washington state. Amtrak says passengers in Portland can expect delays and more train crowding over the next few days. Dozens of passengers at Union Station faced delays, reroutes and cancellations yesterday after the Amtrak Cascades train 501 derailed between Tacoma and Olympia on its way to Portland. The train was on its inaugural run of a new, faster route from Seattle to Portland when it crashed.
