Governor Brown Urges Congress To Reauthorize CHIP Long-Term

(Portland, OR)  --  Governor Kate Brown is calling on Congress to issue a longterm reauthorization of the Children's Health Insurance Program.  Brown issued a statement yesterday telling lawmakers to "get it done," citing bipartisan support for the CHIP program.  Congress voted yesterday to approve nearly three billion dollars to keep the CHIP program up and running through March of 2018.  The money is part of a short-term spending bill to keep the federal government open.  Congress failed to re-authorize funding for the program in September.
