(Spokane, WA) -- The family of a Spokane woman is suing Alaska Airlines for her death after she fell down an escalator at Portland International Airport. The family of 75-year-old Bernice Kekona filed a wrongful death lawsuit in King County Superior Court last week. The suit claims 75-year-old Kekona died last autumn from a leg wound sustained when she fell down an escalator in her wheelchair at the Portland airport. The family says they had requested gate-to-gate service for Kekona because she was wheelchair-bound, but agents left her alone and confused. The family is also suing Alaska Airlines contractor Huntleigh USA, which is tasked with helping assist passengers in transit from gate to gate.
