Man Arrested For Forcing Wife's Hand Into Hot Frying Oil

(Portland, OR)  --  A Columbia County man is facing several charges after allegedly strangling his infant son and forcing his wife's hand into hot frying oil.  Police arrested 34-year-old Jeremiah Crothers Wednesday morning in St. Helens for the attacks at his home in the 19000 block of Swedetown Road in Clatskanie.  Police say Crothers covered the nose and mouth of his seven-month-old son until his legs turned blue Tuesday.  Later that evening, he allegedly accused his wife of not seasoning the fried chicken they were having for dinner and then forced her hand into the hot boiling oil.  He's being held on more than 200-thousand dollars bail.
