(Chatsworth, CA)  --  Shark attacks appear to be on the rise along the Pacific Coast.  The non-profit Shark Research Committee reports that there were nine unprovoked shark attacks last year, eight in California waters and one off of Washington State.  That's six times the 20th Century average of slightly more than one attack per year.  Researchers say it's possible the shark population has been growing as ocean waters warm.
