Inslee Rejects Large Oil Terminal Proposal

(Vancouver, WA)  --  Washington state Governor Jay Inslee is shutting down a proposal to export oil overseas from Vancouver's shores.  Inslee rejected a proposed oil export terminal in Vancouver earlier this week, saying there are too many risks to the public and the Columbia River.  Opponents of the terminal were worried about spills, fires and explosions from oil trains and ships.  The Spokane City Council is also praising the decision because it would have meant five more oil trains a day through Spokane.
