(Eugene, OR) -- A couple from Eugene is working to legalize psychedelic mushrooms as a medical therapy in Oregon. The "Gazette-Times" reports that Tom and Sheri Eckert envision the psychoactive compound psilocybin [[ SILL-uh-sigh-bin ]] as a treatment for cancer-related depression. The pair are reportedly working with attorneys from the state's Legislative Counsel on language for a measure they hope to put on the ballot in 2020. Under their concept, patients would be treated at state-licensed "psilocybin service centers."
