Man Pleads Guilty To Setting Stranger On Fire

(Portland, OR)  --  A man accused of setting another man on fire inside a Happy Valley diner is pleading guilty and will spend at least ten years behind bars.  Twenty-five-year-old DeShaun James Swanger entered the plea in court yesterday for the incident inside the Denny's restaurant across from the Clackamas Town Center last April.  Police say Swanger entered the diner and poured gasoline on a 69-year-old man he didn't know and then tossed a burning object at him.  The victim survived, and he tells KATU he thinks Swanger deserves a stiffer sentence than he's getting.  Sentencing is scheduled for today, and the District Attorney's Office says Swanger will be sentenced to at least ten years with no early release, followed by three years of supervision.
