House Chaplain Rescinds Resignation

(Washington, DC)  --  An Oregon Catholic priest and former Beaverton teacher is getting his job back as U.S. House chaplain.  House Speaker Paul Ryan is letting the Reverend Patrick Conroy keep his job after trying to force him out earlier.  NBC News reports Conroy rescinded his resignation in a letter to Ryan, in which he claims that he has never heard a complaint about his ministry during his time as House chaplain.  Conroy's change of heart came a week after more than a hundred legislators clamored for an explanation from Ryan as to why Conroy was asked to resign.  The Oregon Catholic priest was a teacher, coach and adviser at Beaverton's Jesuit High School from 2004 to 2011, when he was given the House chaplain position.
