Huge Hillsboro Data Center Planned

(Hillsboro, OR)  --  A giant data center is in the works for the Portland area.  The 92-acre, 100-megawatt facility will reportedly use twice the electricity of all the homes in Hillsboro.  "The Oregonian" reports that Kansas-based QTS Data Centers was drawn to the city by lucrative tax breaks.  Those incentives are reportedly not worth what they once were, since the City Council moved to tie their value to the number of jobs created.  Data centers typically produce few jobs, since computers are the big workhorses in them.
