(Portland, OR) -- The city is pushing out a group of protesters that has been camped out for weeks at the Southwest Portland ICE facility. Portland police officers descended on the camp last night to post eviction notices, telling protesters they plan to start clearing out the camp today. The notices followed a news conference earlier in the day in which Mayor Ted Wheeler asked protesters to leave the facility, saying their camp is an unsustainable situation. Demonstrators have been camped out at the facility since June 17th to protest the federal government's "zero tolerance" immigration policy.
