(Portland, OR)  --  Cougars appear to be on the rise in the Portland area.  State biologist Derek Broman tells KATU the number of cougars in the Portland area has been increasing.  Broman notes that cougars are normally more afraid of humans than we are of them.  He adds that if you run across one, you should stand your ground and make yourself as big and loud as possible.
