CEO-Funded Homeless Shelter $500K Over Budget

(Portland, OR)  --  A homeless shelter planned for downtown Portland is already a half-million dollars over budget.  The project is being funded by the CEO of Columbia Sportswear, Tim Boyle, who put up one-and-a-half-million dollars to build it.  Oregon Harbor of Hope director Lisa Mirandas says the overrun is coming from the cleanup of the city-owned property beneath the Broadway Bridge.  A spokesman for Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler told The Oregonian that the city will not "throw good money after bad," and will bow out of the project if costs climb too high.
