Wheeler Responds To ICE Union Attorney's Letter Threatening Lawsuit

(Portland, OR)  --  Mayor Ted Wheeler is blasting a letter from the union for Immigration and Customs Enforcement employees as "inaccurate and inflammatory."  National ICE Council attorney Sean Riddell sent Wheeler a letter Monday threatening to sue the city over the weeks-long Occupy ICE protest at their facility in southwest Portland.  Riddell claims the city created a policy of refusing police services to employees at the facility and that it put employees in danger by allowing the protesters to camp out in front of the facility.  Wheeler responded with his own letter yesterday asking Riddell to provide evidence for his claim that police ignored calls for help from ICE employees.  Wheeler added that he had instructed the Portland Police Bureau to respect the protesters' First Amendment right to free speech.
