(Salem, OR)  --  An overdue audit of Oregon's day care providers will include background checks.  Auditors told The Oregonian that they'll also be looking to identify barriers which hinder such checks.  The audit of the state's childcare system was past due last month and is now tentatively set for release next spring.  The audit was requested last year by Governor Kate Brown after gaps in the system, and the death of a child at a Portland facility, hit the news.
