(Portland, OR)  --  Police are releasing the identity of a man who died after falling 25 feet near Bridal Veil Falls in the Columbia River Gorge.  The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office says 64-year-old John Ferdinand Winther of New York was hiking with his wife and two adult children to celebrate his birthday Tuesday afternoon when he fell from a viewing platform near the upper trailhead.  It's not yet clear how the man fell.
