(Portland, OR)  --  Portland will spend half a million dollars to help defend immigrants who are facing possible deportation.  Portland City Council members voted yesterday to approve the spending of 500-thousand dollars on the effort.  The funding will go to a Portland-based non-profit legal aid group that offers representation to those going through immigration hearings.  Portland City Commissioner Chloe Eudaly helped sponsor the legislation.
