(Washington, DC) -- Senator Jeff Merkley is among a group of senators demanding President Trump and his sons disclose their business ties to Saudi Arabia. The demand from eleven Democratic senators comes after a Washington Post journalist was reportedly abducted and believed killed after entering a Saudi consulate in Turkey. The senators are asking Trump to suspend all ongoing business relationships with the Saudis while the investigation continues into the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi [[ ka-SHO-gee ]]. A letter from the senators says Trump's recent statements, and increased spending by the Saudi government at Trump properties, raise significant concerns about financial conflicts of interest between the Trump Organization and Saudi officials.
