(Salem, OR) -- A freshman in Oregon's state Senate is refusing to back Peter Courtney for the chamber's president. Portland Senator Shemia Fagan said yesterday she won't back her fellow Democrat's re-election because of accusations that he abused his power. The Oregonian reports that the Bureau of Labor and Industries alleges Courtney forced his office manager to resign because she was dating another lawmaker. Fagan says she believes the woman, who has not come forward.
