Police Arrest Hit-And-Run Suspect Accused Of Injuring Own Passenger

(Portland, OR)  --  Police say they've made an arrest in the case of a hit-and-run driver accused of critically injuring one of his own passengers in southeast Portland.  Cops arrested 29-year-old Nicholas Woods yesterday on charges of reckless driving and failing to perform the duties of a driver.  Police say Woods was speeding on Southeast 92nd Avenue just after midnight Saturday when he crashed into several parked cars and then walked away from the scene.  Two people were riding in the car with him, including 34-year-old Cherie Swanson, who suffered traumatic injuries.  The other passenger was her fiancé, who police say was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
