(Beaverton, OR) -- Beaverton-based Nike is in hot water over a new shoe design that some are saying insults the religion of Islam. The Air Max shoes have a stylized version of the Air Max logo on the soles. Turned upside down, some people think part of the logo looks like the Arabic word for God, Allah. An online petition demands Nike to "recall this blasphemous and offensive shoe." Nike says it respects all religions and that any perceived meaning or representation is unintentional.
