(Portland, OR) -- The Oregon Department of Transportation is apologizing to drivers who became stranded for more than 17 hours amid icy conditions on I-84 near Hood River. Drivers ended up sleeping in their cars overnight Tuesday and remained trapped on the road for most of the day yesterday. Oregon State Police troopers delivered water and fuel to the drivers. ODOT says they applied both de-icer and salt to the highway twice ahead of Tuesday night's storm, but the storm washed them away. ODOT says they're reviewing the incident.
