Police Arrest Suspect In Salem Hit-And-Run Of Blind Man, Dog

(Portland, OR)  --  Police say they've arrested a hit-and-run driver who crashed into blind man and his guide dog in Salem.  Police arrested 49-year-old Salem resident Donald Crume yesterday after receiving a tip from the public.  Police say Steve Murphy and his dog Amelia were walking near Liberty Road and Hrubetz Road Monday night when Crume struck them both and then took off.  Murphy reportedly suffered several broken vertebrae in his neck as well as fractured ribs, a fractured pelvis and a torn ligament.  The dog suffered some minor scrapes and is expected to be fine.
