Portland Police To Stop Carrying Knives On Outer Vests

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland police officers are changing the way they carry their service knives.  The Oregonian reports officers are being ordered to stop carrying their knives on their outer vests.  The move comes after a suspect got a hold of an officer's knife during a struggle in early January.  The officer ended up opening fire on the suspect, killing him.  Moving forward, officers will be required to keep their knives in a more concealed location.
