Police Trying To ID Suspect Found Dead In Burning Stolen Car

(Portland, OR)  --  Police in Douglas County are working to identify a man who was killed in a vehicle fire following a shootout with police.  The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says deputies tried to pull the man over at the Love's truck stop along I-5 at Highway 99 Saturday night after finding him in the stolen car.  The vehicle had been reported stolen late last week and was said to contain a semi-automatic rifle along with multiple other weapons and ammunition.  Police say the suspect took off, leading to a pursuit that ended when the vehicle became stuck in a field.  Police say that's when the suspect started firing at deputies, prompting them to return fire.  At some point, the vehicle caught fire, and police later found human remains inside the burned vehicle.
