Federal Judge Blocks Trump Administration's Plan To Restrict Abortion Access

(Portland, OR)  --  A federal judge in Portland is granting a preliminary injunction against the Trump Administration's "gag rule" that prevents doctors from referring low-income patients to an abortion provider.  President Trump made changes to the federal Title X Family Planning program that are scheduled to go into effect on May 3rd.  U.S. District Judge Michael McShane called the changes a ham-fisted approach to public health policy after more than three hours of hearing arguments.  The judge added he is reluctant to set national health care policy and plans to describe the scope of his injunction in a formal written opinion to be released later.
