(Portland, OR)  --  An empty motel in southeast Portland will soon be housing the homeless.  KATU-2 reports the Briarwood Suites on Southeast Powell Boulevard is being turned into a shelter for as many as 40 families.  The shelter will be named Lilac Meadows.  It's expected to open its doors by the end of this month.
