(Washougal, WA) -- Police are releasing the identities of two German nationals killed after being mowed down by a Jeep while sunbathing along the Washougal River in Clark County. The Washougal Police Department says 61-year-old Rudolf Hohstadt and 62-year-old Regina Hohstadt were lying on the beach at Sandy Swimming Hole Park Tuesday evening when a Jeep Grand Cherokee crashed through a chain link fence and drove onto the beach, running them over. Witnesses tell police the vehicle did not slow down before leaving the scene. Both victims died at a hospital. Police believe 71-year-old driver David Croswell was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Police arrested him on charges of DUII and vehicular homicide.
