(Portland, OR) -- A 32-year-old man is facing 15 years behind bars after killing his girlfriend in a domestic violence incident. The Multnomah County District Attorney's Office says a judge sentenced Jose Funes-Zelaya yesterday. Court documents say he threw 29-year-old Shay Martinez onto a concrete floor in September of 2017, causing a brain injury. He then allegedly left her in her bed for 18 hours before taking her to the hospital. She died three days later. Funes-Zelaya pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter constituting domestic violence.
