Woman Locks Self In Steel Bridge Control Tower

(Portland, OR)  --  A woman is being evaluated for mental health after allegedly locking herself inside the Steel Bridge control tower and throwing things onto the roadway below.  Police say the woman was suffering from a mental health crisis Sunday morning when she climbed into the bridge tender shed and began tossing things inside the shed like oil cans onto the ground below her.  Police responded with the bureau's Enhanced Crisis Intervention Team and spoke with the woman for two hours before she agreed to come down.  She was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
