(Portland, OR)  --  Several events are scheduled around the Portland area today in remembrance of 9-11.  Portland firefighters will hold a ceremony at 11:00 this morning on the Eastbank Esplanade near Fire Station 21.  They'll be honoring the 343 firefighters who lost their lives while trying to save people trapped inside the World Trade Center towers in New York 18 years ago today.  Elsewhere, local leaders will gather at Veterans Memorial Coliseum to help hundreds of veterans in need of housing, employment, medical care and other services.  Portland City Commissioner Jo Anne Hardesty and Multnomah County Commissioners Sharon Meieran, Lori Stegmann and Susheela Jayapal will be among those attending.
