McMenamins Edgefield Flooding Caused By Guest Hanging From Pipe

(Portland, OR)  --  New details are coming to light regarding a broken sprinkler pipe that flooded all three floors of McMenamins Edgefield Wednesday night.  The hotels marketing director says the sprinkler pipe broke after a guest jumped up and grabbed the pipe and started hanging from it.  The Gresham Fire Department responded to the building and evacuated 200 people.  Crews shut off power to the building and were able to stop the water flow.  The hotel says only a few rooms were seriously damaged.
