Man Arrested For Attempted Kidnapping Previously Convicted Of Same Crime

(Vancouver, WA)  --  New details are coming to light regarding a man accused of trying to kidnap a teenage girl at a shopping mall in Vancouver, Washington.  Court records show 49-year-old Steve Hayes was previously convicted of trying to kidnap a young girl from a Walmart in Vancouver five years ago.  Police arrested Hayes Saturday after he allegedly approached a 14-year-old girl at Vancouver Mall and threatened to kill her before dragging her away.  Police say the girl fought back and yelled "fire," prompting witnesses to chase Hayes down and hold him until officers arrived at the scene.  Police arrested Hayes on charges of kidnapping, assault and harassment.
