(Portland, OR) -- Service employees at all seven public universities in Oregon are preparing to strike. Members of the Service Employee International Union say they'll go on strike next Monday if the universities fail to reach an agreement with the union on a new contract. KATU reports the union bargaining team didn't show up to negotiations last night. Union members are asking for a six-point-two-five-percent cost-of-living raise over two years. So far, the universities are offering a four-point-two-five-percent raise.
